Why You Need a Candle Wick Trimmer - My Western Heart

How To Care for Candles | Why You Need a Wick Trimmer in Your Life

Using a Wick Trimmer can prolong the life of your candle for a cleaner, brighter and more even burn.

Using a candle with a longer wick will have a larger flame and burn at a faster rate causing the wax to be used up more quickly. Having a longer wick can create a bigger flame causing soot and discoloration to your candle vessel.

A trimmed wick not only reduces soot and smoke but will also help preserve your favorite candles. This helps to control how much wax melts to create an even burn and significantly prolong the life of the candle.

What is a wick trimmer?

A wick trimmer is an easy way to trim your candle wick and designed to make trimming wicks easier than traditional scissors. A wick trimmer provides a clean cut of the wick while removing the leftover debris. It's so easy to remove the wick without turning the candle upside down.

Wick trimmers are long enough and the right shape to get into most candle jars, which makes trimming your candle very convenient!

How Much Wick To Trim

Prior to each burn it is suggested that you trim your candle's wicks to 1/4".

The nice thing about the extended length of the trimmer is it allows you to reach deep inside any candle to easily clip the wicks. Then you don’t have to wrestle the candle, holding it on an angle or having to use a pair of scissors. This also prevents soot and wax from getting on your arm and hand.
